Whittingham, Callaly & Alnham Parish Council is seeking to co-opt a new Parish Councillor to represent Whittingham.
If you are interested in helping to shape the future of your local community, this is an opportunity to become involved in local decision making and represent the views of residents.
Applications are open until 5.00 pm on Monday 1 September 2026.
What happens after I apply?
Once applications have closed:
- The Clerk will check that applications have been completed and that applicants meet the statutory eligibility requirements.
- Personal contact details will be removed before applications are circulated to councillors.
- Councillors may submit questions they would like applicants to answer. Any questions will be combined where appropriate, with every applicant receiving the same questions and the same opportunity to respond in writing.
- The applications and written responses will then be considered by the Council at its meeting on Tuesday 15 September 2026.
Applicants are very welcome to attend the meeting. The Council will consider all applications before voting on whether to appoint a candidate. There is no requirement for applicants to give a presentation or answer questions on the night, as the process has been designed so that all candidates receive the same questions and have equal opportunity to respond beforehand.
Please note that the Council is not obliged to fill the vacancy if it considers that none of the applications are suitable.
