Currently our pitch fees can be increased each year by the Retail Price Index (RPI). RPI is higher than CPI (the Consumer Price Index) because it factors in interest rates.

The Government has committed to legislate to change pitch fee increases from RPI to CPI “when the parliamentary timetable allows”. However, we need this to happen ASAP because RPI is forecast to skyrocket to 17.7% later this year.
If RPI is that high when we have our pitch fee review we could see pitch increases of around £45 a month. Meanwhile CPI is expected to peak at 7.4% this year before falling to 4% in 2023 so we desperately need the government to make this charge.

The Park Home Owners’ Justice Campaign has organised a rally in London on Monday 19 September and the campaign’s President, Sir Peter Bottomley will take a letter to No 10. However, it’s a bit too late because the House of Commons is in recess from 23 September for nearly 4 weeks.

Please write to our MP and strongly urge him to act now.

Points to make -
  • The government committed to change the way pitch fees are charged in October 2018 but 4 years later nothing has been done.
  • Unless legislation is introduced ASAP, park home owners face a pitch fee rise timebomb in early 2023 because RPI rates are skyrocketing.
