On a glorious November lunchtime, 210 trees or rather striplings were planted alongside the bridleway down the concrete road on a site generously given by Charles and Sophie Buckley. The trees came from the Woodland Trust as part of the Queen's Green Canopy, and Sophie Nickel Lean and Nancy Guinness organised their acquisition as part of the Culworth Community Group.

A selection of wild cherry, crabapple, dog rose, hazel, silver birch, rowan, blackthorn, and elder were planted in concentric circles by a willing band of helpers. In the centre it is hoped to plant a specimen oak tree.
Special thanks must go not only to Charles and Sophie Buckley but also the farm Manager Marcus Boniface. Martin Rowlin painstakingly worked out the detail of the circular planting. David and Kate Smith gave great assistance in marking the layout, distributing the trees and protective guards, and indeed in planting.
Thanks to all those who attended.
