UPDATE FROM AERODROME OPERATOR

Due to the Christmas holidays, helicopter flying training will cease on 16th Dec 2022 and the airfield will re-open for training on Weds 4th Jan 2023.

During this period, there will be scheduled airfield maintenance taking place. There will be some gliding activity planned, but this will be dependent on weather. In addition, there may be limited helicopter air testing taking place, as the Airbus engineers take advantage of the break in flying training activities to carry out routine servicing of the helicopter fleet.

The RAF Shawbury Gliding Club has now been established for over 2 years. Since the Club’s arrival, they have flown on most weekends and the membership of the Club has grown, offering gliding opportunities to the whole Service community. The Club can also offer a limited number of introductory flights to members of the public through the British Gliding Association voucher scheme, available through the British Gliding Association website.
