Post Office Launch Payments Solutions for Most Vulnerable and those Self-Isolating
The Post Office has launched or extended several services to help those who are most vulnerable and self-isolating.
A new cash delivery service has been set up with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to ensure the most at-risk households can access pensions and benefits. Vulnerable Post Office Card Account customers and those advised to shield by the NHS can be sent up to £2,500 cash if they do not have any other options to access their money, to ensure that they are not financially isolated.
The Post Office is also making two of its products available to all UK banks, building societies and credit unions, to make it easier for people who are self-isolating to access cash. Some banks are also offering cash delivery, including Barclays, Natwest and RBS.
Payout Now
A voucher sent by text, email or post to a customer who can share it with a trusted person to withdraw cash.
Fast Pace
A service allowing a customer to arrange for a trusted person to collect a cheque from them, cash it at Post Office and return with the money.
Self-isolating or vulnerable people affected by the coronavirus pandemic need to contact their financial institution to see if they offer these products.
Supermarkets Market Volunteers Cards
Some supermarkets have also launched 'volunteer cards' which can be topped up securely and delivered digitally to helpers.
Asda, Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose have introduced specific volunteer shopping cards.
