Opening yesterday's Pre-Season Meeting, held via Zoom, President John Yarrall explained to some 50 members that, whilst the Club cannot yet know the playing arrangements that will be possible in 2021, the Committee believes social bowling should be possible and is assuming also that 2021 competitions and leagues will take place. Following updates from the Secretary, Match and Competition Secretary on their respective recent activities, the President thanked those whose entries had been received and encouraged those who had not yet submitted their entries to do so as soon as possible. It was agreed that, once members have submitted their league entries, the Committee should meet to decide how many of our current 12 league teams the Club should run. Normally at this meeting there is a good amount of discussion about who should captain the teams but this year, in advance of the meeting, the President had already approached and found 11 volunteer captains so this item took less time than usual. It was also agreed that Coaching arrangements could not sensibly be determined until there is a clearer picture of what play will be possible and that President John and Club Captain Anji would take the lead on running the Spoon Drives. There being no other business the President, at 7.45 pm, closed the shortest Pre-Season Meeting in Club history.
