Presidents Day June 2017
Bletchley St. Martins Bowls Club
Saturday 17th June was Presidents day at the club, with the annual game of the Presidents team v the Captains team.
The weather on the day looked to be good, and so it turned out to be, with glorious sunshine and temperatures in the 30's.
The turnout for the game was excellent with 7 rinks in play.
The proceedings started as usual with a spider, Murray Rutherford winning the prize and the donated fee going to charity.
The game as always was played in a friendly but competative way, with neither side giving much away, well apart from one of the captains rink who clearly missed the "lets play nicely" memo and proceeded to smash one of the Presidents rinks out of the park, though to be fair as much as they would have preferred a closer score it was just one of those games where they all out played the opposition.
There was a lovely tea layed on for after the game, thanks go to the members who prepared and set out the food, and for Keith Rees and helpers for manning the bar.
In the Presidents after dinner speech, he thanked the exec committe, head green keeper and caterer for the work and effort carried on behalf of the club, each being presented with a bottle of wine.
The final score came in at 124 to the Captain & 94 to the President, but most importantly the event was enjoyed by all those present.
There are plenty of pictures from the day posted in the gallery section of the website.
