The Voluntary and Community Awards are back!

Sevenoaks District Council is once again looking for unsung heroes as part of its Voluntary and Community Awards.

The ‘Making It Happen’ awards work alongside community and voluntary organisations and look to recognise residents and organisations in the District that go the extra mile.

This year, there are eleven awards with two new categories for Healthy Living and Contribution to the Environment up for grabs. The Council are encouraging residents to nominate people and organisations who they believe stood out over the last year.

Cabinet Member for People and Places, Cllr Lesley Dyball, says: “After two years without the awards, we are delighted to be hosting these again. The pandemic has shown what incredible community spirit the Sevenoaks District has and it’s important that we recognise the hard work of those people who give up countless hours of their time to help others.

“There are so many hardworking and selfless people and organisations across the District that deserve to have a chance of winning so please make sure you get involved and submit a nomination form before the deadline on Sunday 2 January.”

The awards will take place on Wednesday 9 March 2022 at St Nicholas’s Church, Sevenoaks and will see people from across the District being rewarded for their hard work and contribution.

The categories are:

• Charity Project of the Year

• Community Arts/Sports Group of the Year

• Youth Group of the Year

• Best Business in the Community

• Local Hero

• Carer of the Year

• Healthy Living Award

• Lifetime Achievement

• Contribution to the Environment Award

• Volunteer Group of the Year

• Older Person's Group of the Year
