Team England Signals Commonwealth Games Intent with Strong Final Preparation Weekend at Desborough Bowling Club

13–14 June | Desborough Bowling Club

With just weeks to go until the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this July, Team England delivered an impressive statement of intent during its final official preparation weekend at Desborough Bowling Club on 13–14 June.

The high-quality international tournament brought together England, Wales, and Scotland in what proved to be a fiercely competitive and valuable test ahead of one of the sport’s biggest stages. While Guernsey was unfortunately unable to participate, the standard of competition remained exceptionally high, providing the perfect opportunity for England’s athletes to fine-tune their performances before heading to Glasgow.

England’s experienced Pairs combinations rose to the occasion, demonstrating composure, consistency, and growing confidence against two strong international rivals. Collectively, the English pairings secured an outstanding nine victories from twelve matches, underlining the progress made throughout the preparation programme and reinforcing belief that the team is well positioned to challenge for medals next month.

The weekend also showcased the outstanding form of two of England’s standout performers. Katherine Rednall and Sam Tolchard both produced excellent displays in their respective Singles competitions, combining skill, determination and championship pedigree to further strengthen England’s prospects for success at the Commonwealth Games.

Equally encouraging were the performances of England’s Para squad. Facing international-level opposition for one of the first times in the preparation campaign, the team responded with confidence and resilience, proving they have the quality and competitive edge to contend for podium places in Glasgow.

The event at Desborough Bowling Club represented the culmination of months of planning, preparation and hard work from athletes, coaches, support staff and volunteers. It also gave supporters and stakeholders an exciting glimpse of the talent, depth and determination that Team England will take to the Commonwealth Games.

As anticipation builds towards July, the signs are overwhelmingly positive. England’s athletes have continued to improve with every preparation weekend, building momentum at exactly the right time and demonstrating the unity, professionalism and winning mentality required at the highest level.

The message from Desborough is clear: Team England is ready for Glasgow.

With confidence growing across all disciplines, medal ambitions firmly in sight and performances trending in the right direction, England heads into the Commonwealth Games full of belief and determination.

Beware Glasgow – Team England is ready! 🏆🇬🇧
