PRESS REPORT 20th April 2026

Batchwood Hall Bowling Club played Redbourn Bowls Club at home in their first match of the Season. It was a lovely warm sunny afternoon. George Tutt, Men’s Captain, said the Redbourn team had great difficulty adapting to a surface so different from their artificial one. Batchwood won quite easily. As Batchwood had 8 more players available to play their Captain decided that they would play a pairs game and at 9 ends swap with the players taking part in the match, this would enable all players to participate in the game.

Batchwood's Chris Kelly, Competitions Secretary, has announced a new singles mixed handicap competition: ‘I am very excited to be able to announce the beginning of a new competition for Batchwood Hall Bowling Club. This involves all playing members of the club and provides great opportunities for everyone to benefit as a result of the handicapping applied to all players’
