Your parish council and our KCC Councillor ( Sarah Emberson) have been working hard to try and alleviate the consequences of the road closure of Ulcombe Hill from 17/8 to 27/8.

I am pleased to announce that due to Sarah's positive discussions with Streetworks , she has advised the following :

"The road width does not allow for any other form of Traffic Management than a closure, as this would be unsafe to undertake, for both the gangs on site and the travelling public.

The extent of the physical obstruction will be far smaller than the diversion, as it is only the physical site that is obstructed from passing, therefore emergency vehicles would be able to access properties. The closure does not restrict access completely, despite the statement that it will be closed in its entirety, as this is for diversion purposes only. Signage on site at each end will read ‘Road Closed, access only’

Whilst we appreciate the concerns raised, safety is paramount and as explained above, the situation is not as dire as believed.

Regular inspections will be carried out to ensure that they are keeping to the confines of the permit conditions in relation to access, and both KFRS and SE Ambulance are notified of the attached, and will continue to use the road for access".

We will continue to monitor the situation.
