This evening at Old Basing Terry Heath and Ric Newson retained their Whitchurch League Pairs title beating Dave Goddard and Mick Jones of Basingstoke Town 19-17 in the final. The game was rather more comfortable than the scoreline suggests in that Oakley were 6 up playing the final end and had only to cover the Town bowls to ensure victory, Congratulations to both players who together have now won this event on 4 occasions in the last 5 years and for Ric it is his fifth success.

On Thursday Terry will be going for his third Whitchurch League title of the season when he takes on Neil Clarke of Basingstoke Town in the Brookhouse Cup Final - the Champion of Champions event. The game will take place at on Thursday at 6 pm.at Howard Park. . Unusually support from Oakley members at District Finals has, this year, been disappointing so if you can get along to support Terry please do so.
