Shropshire Highways has issued the following memorandum today:

I am writing to inform you of proposed retaining wall repair works that will require the temporary closure of the C6208 (a C-classified road) between the A488, between New Invention and Lower Lye Junction at Chapel Lawn, Bucknell.

The works are scheduled to take place between 13 July and 31 July 2026.

The scheme will involve the removal of the collapsed retaining wall, construction of a new concrete footing, rebuilding of the retaining wall, installation of parapet fencing, and reinstatement of the highway verge and carriageway.

To carry out the works safely, it will unfortunately be necessary to close the road to vehicular traffic on a 24-hour basis for the duration of the works. During this time, traffic will be diverted via a signed diversion route. Further information is available at: https://one.network/?tmi=GB44967869

Please note that access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will not be available throughout the works, although access to properties will be maintained up to the closure points.

We appreciate that these works may cause some disruption and apologise in advance for any inconvenience. Every effort will be made to minimise disruption wherever possible.

The works will be undertaken by the Council’s term maintenance contractor, Kier, with supervision provided by WSP on behalf of Shropshire Council.

To ensure the public is informed, advance warning signs will be installed on site, and information letters will be distributed to local residents. A press release will also be issued.
