UPDATE-THURSDAY NOVEMBER 11th-ROAD NOW OPEN

Yorkshire Water finally started their work on Monday to connect the Lamb and Flag development to the supply. A short section of Boroughbridge Road was closed to traffic and was scheduled to stay closed for three days. However, contractors on site were, when asked on Monday lunchtime, optimistic that work may well finish ahead of schedule. The village could but hope.

A handful of properties in the immediate vicinity of the work were expected to be without water for about three hours on Monday. Householders had been notified in advance. The drinking water bowser can be seen, in one of the pictures above, inching its way down Hungate late Monday morning.

Main Street and the ford were still open as an alternative.

Meanwhile, work on the revamp of the schoolroom at the Methodist Chapel has also begun today as planned.
