The final stages of the Ron Burch Memorial Shield were played on Friday 6th September. This is the first time that the event has been played in this format and the evening was a great success. The six ends competition allowed the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final to be played on the same evening.

After some close matches the finalists were Jamie Bennett and Mike Hulbert. The final itself was particularly close with Jamie taking three shots on the final end to force a tie. The extra end then saw Mike emerge as this year's winner. The particpants and spectators then enjoyed a 'bring and share' light supper.

The trophy is named in memory of Ron Burch, a much loved and much missed former long-time member of Mill Bowling Club, and the evening was made extra special by an unexpected visit from Ron's daughters Jane and Sue. It was lovely to see them and have a chat about the memories of their dad. There are a few photos from the evening in the Photo Gallery.

Many thanks are due to David and Sue for the organisation of a great evening.
