I hope that you are well and are having a great season on the water.

With under 2 weeks to go until the RYA East British Youth Sailing Regional Junior Championships, which take place on Saturday 25th/Sunday 26th September at Grafham Water, I wanted to ensure that you were aware of the opportunity for OnBoard sailors to take part in the OnBoard fleet this year.

Focusing on ‘games with aims’, the emphasis will very much be on fun, and this is a great event for young sailors visiting a new venue for the first time outside of their home club. As part of an end-of-season celebration for junior sailing, it will also build on the OnBoard character attributes, including team work, determination and communication. Run by RYA Instructors, this is ideal for those aged under 13 with RYA Stage 2, with lots of fun activities planned.

The cost for the weekend is £45, or £25 for Saturday only. If your young sailors don’t have their own boat, they can borrow a Pico, Optimist (fully booked) or Fusion dinghy at no extra cost. Please book as soon as possible to secure your place – you can book here. For any families needing accommodation, there is limited availability at Grafham Water Centre, with rooms available at £40 per night. Please contact grafham.water@cambridgeshire.gov.uk to find out more.

If you have instructors who wish to come along to support the event, we would also like to hear from you.

For those sailors with more experience, there are the Championship and Coached Regatta Fleets – entries for these close on Sunday 19th September. You can book here: https://www.rya.org.uk/events/racing-events

We look forward to seeing you soon for a great weekend on the water, and if you have any questions, please get in touch.
