This evening, at Loddon Vale, Oakley took on Basingstoke Town Harlequins in the semi-final of the Ambler/Fuller Trophy looking to reach the Final of this event, that is specifically for outdoor clubs, for an amazing seventh successive year. A hard game was anticipated against a strong Town team and after 7 ends Oakley trailed 4-6. The eighth end, however, proved to be a turning point. Oakley scored a 7 and so dominated the next 10 ends that they scored 17 shots to just 1 and ran out 28-7 winners, with the Town conceding at 18 ends.. Congratulations go to our successful players Steve Devonish, Malcolm Grime, Sean Lassman and Alice Lovett. The final is expected to be on April 9th and will be a repeat of the 2021 final against the holders Old Basing Bears.
