Christmas shoppers in Thanet were given safety advice and crime prevention devices during an event at Westwood Cross Shopping Centre.

PCSOs and members of Thanet District Council's Community Safety Partnership were on hand along with the local Neighbourhood Watch Liaison Officer on the afternoon of Thursday 9 December 2021.

People visiting the shopping centre were given advice on how to stay safe when out and about, and at home, over the winter months.

As well as advice, devices including personal attack alarms, purse chains, door and window alarms and shed alarms were given out as part of Kent Police's work preventing crime in the district.

PSCO Adrian Butterworth said: 'There was a great response from shoppers and I hope the advice, and devices, we handed out will prevent possible offences in future.

'We are keen to hear from residents around Thanet about any concerns they have around crime and anti-social behaviour and regularly hold high-visibility events like this around the district.'
