SMARDEN VILLAGE - TIDY WEEK Saturday 04 April to Friday 10 April 2020

To tie with the Great British Spring Clean campaign, Tidy Week this year will take place from Saturday 04 April to Friday 10 April 2020.

Smarden has a Litter Team were members are responsible for their areas.

To assist the Litter Team, it would be appreciated if all residents became involved in the habit of picking up litter.

A significant proportion of the population unfortunately thinks it is acceptable to drop litter, particularly when in their vehicles and passing through Smarden.

For Tidy Week the wish is to encourage all residents to make a difference by looking around their own property including surrounding roads, verges and footpaths. Smarden is a special village and it is unsightly to see fast food containers, cans and bottles strewn around.

A good idea is to take a carrier bag when out for a walk so that you can pick up any litter you come across.

My thanks to all residents who keep the village tidy and free of litter and to members of the Litter Team for all their work.

If anyone would like rubbish sacks please contact me on 770446 or jomorton551@btinternet.com

For fly‑tipping and to arrange for sacks of litter to be picked up from the roadside, please “Report It” online at https://www.ashford.gov.uk/the-environment/streets/fly-tipping/ or telephone 01233 331111.
