Solihull Municipal Bowls Club celebrates 50 years 1971 to 2021
Solihull Municipal Bowls Club
Friends, old and new gathered together at the Club on Saturday 24th July for our President’s Day and to celebrate our 50 years anniversary.
After a great match to claim the President’s Trophy, Chairperson, Pam Pooley, was called upon to present it to the President’s Team. President, Geoff Wyatt, volunteered Amy Williams, one of our two fifteen year old members, to accept the trophy.
A grand picnic lunch was held in the Clubhouse and a good time was had by all. President Geoff was called upon to say a few words, where he reflected on the 50 years of the club he then made the first cut into our birthday cake, which featured a man sprawling the ground after his bowl and a lady sitting happily on the sidelines – very apt given that Solihull Municipal was one of the first Bowls Clubs to welcome ladies fifty years ago.
