South Warwickshire Local Plan

The plan has now reached an early key stage with the publication of the Housing and Economic Needs Assessment (HEDNA) and the Issues and Options, both of which will be going out for public consultation in January. Please have a good look at how it may affect the Wootton Wawen area. It was presented to the two Councils' Joint Committee on 7th December, with an 8-week consultation period commencing in early January 2023. The consultation period was scheduled for 6 weeks but at the Joint meeting (which I am a member of) we agreed to extend this to 8 weeks due to the vast amount of detail, especially in the HEDNA) This plan aims to consider employment, infrastructure, transport links, housing and the climate. It is essential that any objections are supported with sound planning reasons. This is at an early stage (stage 2) of at least 8 stages and further consultations are planned. It is imperative that the Parish Council and residents look at the plans early and agree their approach to the proposed sites in the consultation document as they will have very big consequences for Wootton Wawen if ignored. There are over 1500 pages (Page 899 refers to Wootton Wawen apparently) in one document alone (the HEDNA) and I would recommend reading the Executive Summary rather than the full HEDNA document. It has provoked a fierce response from both Henley in Arden and Tanworth in over the last two weeks due to the large number of sites being considered and the possible implications. These will be refined down for the next part of the consultation but it is important for residents and the Parish Council that support for or objections to any site proposal are within the agreed timescale. Full details can be found using this link https://www.southwarwickshire.org.uk/swlp/

The consultation runs from the 9th January 2023 to 6th March 2023.
