9th January 2016 - SUCCESSFUL START TO NEW YEAR

The New Year began well for Oakley in last night's Cusheon Trophy games at Loddon Vale. The "B" team playing against Howard Park "B" stormed away to an 18-2 lead after only 5 ends, with Bob Goodyear's rink leading 11-0. The "A" team, however, started more slowly but after 5 ends they too had a narrow 13-9 lead over Loddon Vale. By 10 ends the "A" team had extended their lead to 12 shots and the "B" team had increased their lead by 1 shot. From there on it was plain sailing for the "B" team who by 15 ends were 41-12 up, by 18 ends 52-16 up and eventually they triumphed 61-18. Loddon Vale, however, put up a sterner fight and the "A" team's lead had , by 15 ends, been reduced to 5 shots and at 18 ends the lead was still only 37-29. However, over the last 3 ends Loddon scored only 1 shot to Oakley's 12 giving Oakley an overall 49-30 win.

Oakley Scores:

"B " Team Jo Holland, Jim Fitzgerald, Val Ryan and Bob Goodyear won 29-11, Averil Adams, Martin Budd, Paul Cresswell and John Wilson won 32-7

"A "Team Ashley Nethercliffe, June Harvie, Trevor Wearn and Fred Norris won 25-16, Nicole Rogers, Kay Kerley, Dave Harrison and Ted Brown won 24-14
