The Case for Change
Children across The Weald face long commutes, limited school choice, and rising concerns around safety, wellbeing, and attendance.
Current Challenges
- Very long daily journeys to allocated schools and associated safeguarding concerns on transport.
- Isolation from friends after school because pupils are dispersed across distant schools.
- Limited options outside very large secondary schools, with Year 7 cohorts often far larger than local primary cohorts.
- Curriculum mismatch for many pupils in currently allocated schools.
- Growing mental health concerns linked to travel pressures, unsuitable provision, and lack of belonging.
