Swan Welfare - Thank You
We would like to say thank you to all residents, staff and councillors who have helped monitor and support the welfare of the two swan families since the 9th of May.
Your care, vigilance and updates have been very much appreciated and have helped resolve a difficult situation. The resident pen and cygnets were safely removed yesterday by a wildlife rescue organisation. We understand they are now in appropriate care, and we hope there will be coordination with those caring for the cob, who was taken to a local vet practice, so that they can be reunited in due course.
We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding, situations involving wildlife can be emotional and complex and intervening with wild swans, particularly a family, is not straightforward, and outcomes are always guided by specialist advice, including advice we took from the RSPCA, to ensure the animals’ welfare.
Thank you again to everyone who played a part.
