Three years ago, when organising a 60s night at Malshanger the Social Committee had concerns about how well it might be supported but it had no hesitation this year in inviting back the Freddy Clark band to entertain us. There were concerns at the start of the evening. We had no band. They were lost, despite having been to the club previously. Once, however, the band arrived most of the 65 members and friends present were quickly on the dance floor as the band played all those numbers we remember and love. Elvis, Cliff, Chubby Checker, Gerry and the Pacemakers, the Beatles, Buddy Holly you name it, they could play it, and it was not too long before members were wishing their bodies would let them do what their memories said they could

Half way through the evening we had a needed break for fish and chips delivered to us by Olivers of Old Basing - they found the club ok!- and tthroughout the evening Jocky, with a little help from Spencer, was looking after members' liquid needs. At the close, President Mary. expressing the views of those present, thanked the band, the Social Committee and all those who had helped to make the evening so enjoyable.
