UPDATE on buses

There is now a service update on the Stagecoach website, it says this:

Coxwell Road in Faringdon is going to be closed from Monday 7th September until Friday 16th April 2027. Service S6 will divert along the A420 and the A417 to serve Faringdon Town Centre in both directions. The 15:20 service from Fernham Road will start from Faringdon Market Place. The following bus stops will not be served during the closure: Great Coxwell Turn, Ampthill Way, Coleshill Drive, Fernham Road, Highworth Road, Coxwell Gardens and Coxwell Street.

Coxwell Road is not going to be closed but won't be used by the S6, we've also had confirmation from Bill Souter who is the construction director for the contractors (PM Harris Ltd) as follows:

However, to confirm, the road between Great Coxwell and Faringdon will remain open, and the roundabout operational.

In addition the councillors in Faringdon have posted the following:

.. we are happy to announce that a Coxwell Road Shuttle Bus Service should be running from Monday.

After working with officers at the County Council this week, and lobbying Stagecoach, we have just been told that we should have a shuttle bus service running up and down the Coxwell Road throughout the roadworks on the A420.

We don't have all the details as yet, nor do we have a timetable, but we hope to hear more over the weekend and first thing Monday morning, and will update you as soon as we can.

If you wish to contact Mr Souter to discuss the works here are his contact details:

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ.

This article provides details of the planned road closure of the link road from the mini roundabout to the A420 from September 2026 to April 2027 so that the junction can be improved, this has been long talked about as is now planned.

Below is the notice and links to the documents, I have called the company involved to ask about the bus route and they inform me that the bus company have not yet responded but he'll let me know.
