Temporary Road Closure, Suspend One-Way & Prohibition Of Parking - Various Roads, Margate - From 31st October 2022 (Thanet District)

It will be necessary to close part of Cliffe Avenue, Westbrook Avenue, Rancorn Road, Westcliff Gardens, and Westcliff Road, Margate. Parking will be prohibited on Westbrook Gardens, Royal Esplanade and Westcliff Gardens. The one-way Order on Rancorn Road and Westbrook Avenue will be suspended to allow access.

The road closures and restrictions will take place in 5 phases, as detailed below:

Phase 1 - closures are planned on Cliffe Avenue and Westbrook Avenue from 31st October 2022, with estimated completion by 11th November 2022.

Cliffe Avenue will be closed from its junction with Westbrook Avenue to outside number 3, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for eastbound traffic is via Cliffe Avenue, Royal Esplanade and Westonville Avenue.

The alternative route for westbound traffic is via Cliffe Avenue, Royal Esplanade, Westbrook Gardens and Westbrook Avenue.

Westbrook Avenue will be closed at its junction with Cliffe Avenue, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for eastbound traffic is via Bridge Road, A28 Canterbury Road and Westbrook Avenue.

The alternative route for westbound traffic is via Rancorn Road, Westbrook Avenue, A28 Canterbury Road and Bridge Road.

Phase 2 - a closure is planned on Rancorn Road from 14th November 2022, with estimated completion by 25th November 2022.

Rancorn Road will be closed at its junction with Westcliff Gardens, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic travelling from Rancorn Road is via Westbrook Avenue, Royal Esplanade and Westbrook Gardens.

The alternative route for any through traffic travelling from Westcliff Gardens is via Royal Esplanade and Westcliff Road.

In conjunction with and during this phase 2 closure, an Order has been made to prohibit parking at all times on Westbrook Gardens (eastern side of road) from its junction with Westbrook Avenue to the junction with Royal Esplanade.

An Order has also been made to prohibit parking at all times on Royal Esplanade (southern side of road) from its junction with Westcliff Road to its junction with Westcliff Gardens

Additionally, the one-way Order on Rancorn Road, between the junctions of Westbrook Avenue and Westcliff Road, will be suspended to allow access.

Phase 3 - a closure is planned on Westcliff Gardens in stages, from 14th November 2022, with estimated completion by 23rd December 2022.

Westcliff Gardens will be closed will be closed in stages throughout the entire length.

Stage 1 diversions:

The alternative route for northbound traffic is via Westcliff Gardens, Royal Esplanade, and Westbrook Gardens.

The alternative route for southbound traffic is via Rancorn Road, Westcliff Road and Royal Esplanade.

Stage 2 - 4 diversion:

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Westbrook Gardens, Royal Esplanade, Westcliff Gardens and vice versa.

Stage 5 diversion:

No diversion route available but access will be maintained when it is safe to do so.
