The Petersfield branch of Tesco is the latest organisation to join Dementia Friendly Petersfield, making a pledge to help their staff become Dementia Friends, with the support of Sheila Barker Wallis, their Community Champion.

Sheila, who is a trained Dementia Friends Champion, will offer information sessions to staff, helping to raise awareness and a greater understanding of dementia, including ways in which staff can help customers living with the condition.

Sheila said:

“I’m delighted that Tesco is able to support this local initiative and work with other organisations across the town to help the many people affected by dementia. Having completed the training, I have a much better understanding of the disease and the impact it has, and I hope our support will make a difference for people in Petersfield.”

Local MP Damian Hinds, who helped launch Dementia Friendly Petersfield last year, visited the store to meet staff and thank them for their support of the initiative.
