Opportunist thieves, take advantage of open, or vulnerable doors and windows, keys left in insecure ‘hiding places’ and unlocked side gates.
To reduce burglaries, Thames Valley Police advice to keep homes safe is below:
Only leave windows and doors open if you are actually in that room. Particularly side/rear doors, while you are working in your garden or outside.
Look out for your neighbours’ houses, especially, when they are not at home.
If you see anything that you feel needs urgent Police attendance (e.g. an unknown person in your neighbour’s back garden), phone 999 immediately.
If you see anything suspicious, which does not need an immediate response, phone Thames Valley Police, on the non-emergency number – 101.
If you have any information about a crime and do not want to speak to the Police personally, nor be identified, please call Crime Stoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
