The Old Grammar School, School Lane

The Clerk has contacted Historic England regarding building work at the Old Grammar School, School Lane, and was advised that:

Historic England’s role is to provide advice on the conservation of nationally important historic buildings and places. We can offer advice in relation to the significance of a building, appropriate repairs, maintenance, and potential future uses where a building is of historic interest. However, we do not own properties, manage vacant buildings, or have powers to require an owner to carry out works or bring a property back into use.

We would recommend that the Parish Council continues to liaise with Cheshire East Council regarding concerns about the condition of the building, public safety, and any potential planning or enforcement matters.

The Clerk has contacted Cheshire East Council, an enforcement case has been opened, and an agent is due to visit the site.
