The search for missing James Middleton (age 70)
Sergeant Eddie Adderley of Epsom and Ewell Neighbourhood Team is urging the public to keep an eye out in places off the beaten track in the search for missing Epsom man James Middleton.
It has now been one week since James, known as Jim, went missing on his blue mobility scooter and officers are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare. (Click above to enlarge pictures of Jim and the scooter.)
It may be that he has fallen off his scooter and is in need of medical attention, so the public are asked to look further afield from where they are walking.
Mr Middleton is described as white, 5ft 6”, of large build, with brown greying hair.
He was wearing a body warmer, dark grey shorts, blue trainers, white socks.
Jim has Parkinson’s and early onset of dementia so he may appear confused or be showing tremors.
The 70-year-old was reported missing on Sunday, 2 July after going out at around midday on his light blue mobility scooter and not returning home as expected.
He was believed to have been heading towards the Stew Ponds and Christ Church area of Epsom Common.
Officers conducting the search are particularly interested in tracing the blue mobility scooter.
If you have come across it and not reported it to police, then officers are urging anyone to come forward with that information, they are not in any trouble.
Officers together with volunteers from Surrey Search and Rescue have been searching the area since he went missing. The National Police Air Service and colleagues in Surrey Fire and Rescue Service have also assisted in the search.
Anyone who knows where Jim is or who has seen him is asked to call immediately on 101 (999 in an emergency), quoting the reference number P17165048.
