Whilst we are experiencing beautiful spring weather, only a short time ago our villages and residents were without power and water for a prolonged period of time. At a recent Council meeting, councillors discussed the events that occured and agreed that the Council should consider representations to be made with the utility companies, Wealden DC and East Sussex Concillors and Councils as well as involving our local MP to try to ensure a better response, if and when a similar situation occurs. Whilst recognising the efforts of the utility workforces, who came out in atrocious conditions to restore services, the lack of contingency planning and failure to provide back up water supplies was especially highlighted. We are looking for feedback that we can use to highlight the issues our rural parish had to deal with. If anyone has examples of how they were affected - either personally and/or from a buinsess perspective - please email the Parish Clerk with details. Any responses will be used anonymously when contacting external 3rd parties. Finally a big thank you to everyone who helped during the storm.
