There is only One You
What is One You
The One You shop is a flagship response to improving health and wellbeing – it’s a free to access service based in a converted shop in Ashford town centre, providing health services, support and advice.
The One You shop focuses on services for adults and is there to help and support people to make the lifestyle changes they want to – be it stop smoking, getting more active, losing weight, managing stress, drinking less or having better mental health. The aim is to help people make healthier choices. A number of other partner agencies also run clinics and programmes from the facility.
In July 2019 the shop moved to bigger and better premises with new facilities, including a training kitchen, activity space, baby and toddler feeding area, rooms for hire (including a large meeting room) and a Changing Places toilet for both adults and children.
How can you access it?
The shop is located at 25 Park Mall Shopping Centre, Ashford and is open Tuesday to Friday 9.30am to 5pm and Saturday 9.30am to 1pm. It is closed to the public on Sundays and Mondays.
You will be able to just drop in for blood pressure and weight checks, along with general advice. If you are interested in one of the other specific services please call 03000 123220, ask one of the health style advisors in the shop, or visit: http://www.kentcht.nhs.uk/service/one-you-kent/one-you-shop/.
Is it successful?
The One You shop is the only dedicated shop in the country and has opened its doors to over 8,600 visitors since first opening in February 2017. It is a partnership between Ashford Borough Council, Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust and Kent County Council. Since moving to the new premises in July 2019 it is seeing on average 500 visitors each month.
