On Thursday, on a cold, frosty but sunny morning, 50 members climbed on board a Moreton's coach for a club trip to the Christmas Market in the beautiful Georgian city of Bath. Claimed to be one of the largest, if not the largest market, in the country we were not disappointed finding over 170 stalls in the area around Bath Abbey. Here you could buy speciality local cheeses, chillies, wine, as well as Bath Ales and a huge range of locally produced products and Christmas items. Most members spent the morning browsing the stalls before indulging in lunch at one of the many excellent restaurants/hostelries the city has in abundance. It was then back to shopping or for some a visit to the Roman Baths, the Pump Room or the Abbey.(As far as is known no one tried the Open top bus or even the ice skating in front of the Royal Crescent). Then, as dusk fell and the Christmas Lights came on, we boarded our coach for the trip home, where we arrived about 6.30 pm. Thanks go to the Social Committee for arranging such a splendid day.
