Upper Anstey Lane and Old Odiham Road Residents Association

The UAL-OOR Community

Affiliated to Alton and District Residents' Association (ADRA)

This newsletter is an idea which came out of discussions between a few interested neighbours about the Upper Anstey Lane - Old Odiham Road Residents Group (or 'UAL-OOR community'), held on 16th February 2016. We discussed possible ways of communicating within the UAL-OOR Community, amongst these was the creation of a website, and the distribution of an 'occasional' Newsletter, initially by hand to every household within our Community.

The aims of the group are, broadly

a) to create a community by increasing contacts between neighbours and arranging social and other meetings.

b) to share information, advice and practical help. Planning issues are important to many neighbours, but other matters discussed by the Alton and District Residents Association (ADRA) and concerns within Alton will also be of interest

c) to share our concerns and ideas with councillors and people of influence, if required.

We would welcome news and stories from neighbours, which could go into the newsletter and / or onto our website to help inform other neighbours of events and issues which may be of interest. If you there is anything you'd like to share with our Community, please either:

email us at ualoor34@gmail.com; or go onto the UAL-OOR website to place your comments.

WEBSITE

Many thanks to Gordon for creating and managing our website for us.

OTHER MATTERS

Alton Neighbourhood Plan. Alton residents have voted YES to accepting the ANP. For us this means that there should be no further planning appeals for the Land West of Old Odiham Road and the Land below Highmead House.

Development of the MolsonCoors Brewery Site. The 2nd public consultation took place at the Assembly Rooms on 3rd March. You can view the presentation boards and give your feedback on the plans by clicking the link below and have your say on line - scroll down to item 7 'Your Views & Steps'. Comments need to be made by 16 March.

Digging in Fields on Cadnams development site. This has been an exploration by archaeologists from HCC Archaeology Dept and evidence of iron age settlements has been found, though not of sufficient interest to hold up development of the site.

Wey Walk Project. A proposed designated River Wey Walk from Alton Station to the source of the River Wey is being discussed, having been first proposed by the Amery Hill Residents' Association.

Other matters which we have been made aware of through ADRA meetings (which a couple of people from our 'core group' attend regularly) include consultations about the future of the library, fire service and health services, as well as the recruitment of the economic development officer for Alton paid for by Alton Town Council and East Hants District Council.
