On 22 February we became aware of the flood in the underpass at Mandeville Way. The underpass is an official Public Right of Way and should be maintained by the council.

We contacted the council to ask them to deal with it because it made the right of way impassable.

Essex Council replied that 'On investigation there was no recordable issue at this location, it may because the issue is not something that relates to the highway (not the responsibility of Essex Highways, but not something we are able to pass onto another organisation'.

We escalated the matter to the local councillor and he said he'd contact Essex himself. However, almost 3 weeks on and still nothing's been done so we contacted the local press and shared photographs and explained how vital this right of way is.

The reporter got in touch with Essex Council and asked for their comments and then within 24hrs the flooding was cleared.
