Unitary Update

Discussions are still ongoing with the other councils and government ministers about the makeup and structure of the new Unitary council. A final decision from the Secretary of State is expected soon.

In the meantime, AVDC has had confirmation from Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government's that there will not be any local elections in 2019, which means that district councillors will now continue until 2020 and that elections for the new unitary council will take place in May 2020. Town and parish council elections have also been postponed until May 2020.
