It was a long day on Saturday for Val Ryan and Laura Butler as they participated in the North Hampshire Women's McFauld Trophy played at Hook. A pairs tournament played over 12 ends, the Oakley duo found themselves in the preliminary round where they beat Sandy Crocker and Helen Smith of Alton. Further victories over Sheila Andrews and Rachel Powell of Farnborough and Maggie Marsh and Margaret Hankin of Fleet Social saw them advance to the semi-final where, well into the evening, they met Brenda Grout and Janice Doran of Fleet United. A victory in this game saw them through to the Final to be held at Howard Park on 6th September when they will play Cheryl Ekblad and Caroline Goodeve of Alton Social. The Club's congratulations go to both players and we wish them good luck in the Final.
