Monksilver lies at the eastern end of Exmoor National Park, nestling in a valley between the Quantock Hills (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), the Brendon Hills and Exmoor. It has around 100 residents and 54 properties.

EMN Community Hall

Serves the villages of Elworthy, Monksilver and Nettlecombe. A range of activities is available, including Pilates, art classes, a gardening club and social events throughout the year.

All Saints’ Church

A lovely Grade I listed church dating from the 12th century. The church has a square west tower, built in the 14th century.

Monksilver Parish Council

Possibly the smallest active parish council in Somerset. The Parish Council deals with a wide range of village matters. Regular meetings are held, at which residents are welcome.

• A defibrillator and bleed kit are located in the donkey house, to the rear of The Notley Arms Inn car park. They are accessible 24 hours a day.
• General waste bins are collected every three weeks, and recycling bins weekly, on Thursday mornings.
• Garden waste bins are collected fortnightly on a Wednesday. An annual fee is charged for this service.

Pathways is the monthly parish magazine for the parishes of Monksilver, Bicknoller, Crowcombe, East Quantoxhead, Elworthy, Nettlecombe, Sampford Brett, Stogumber and West Quantoxhead. It contains information about church activities, local events, and adverts for local trades and services.

Walking and countryside

One of the delights of Monksilver is its network of footpaths and bridleways. The acclaimed Coleridge Way passes through the village. Monksilver sits on the route from Nether Stowey to Lynmouth, a total distance of approximately 51 miles.
