Covid-19 has changed the way we all live, work, learn and play. You may find you have increased energy costs from working at, or being at home more than usual. Why not spend some time making sure you have a good energy deal for the coming year, and look into making energy efficiency improvements at the same time.

A free to join scheme called West Berkshire Energy Switch gives residents the chance to see if they can make savings on their fuel bills. 724 households have switched supplier through the scheme, saving over £161,500 between them since 2016.

A one day reverse auction was held in May, with all winning suppliers providing 100% renewable energy; registrants already signed up are now receiving their personalised offer for consideration.

Steve Ardagh-Walter, Executive Member for Environment at West Berkshire Council, said “This is a great opportunity to not only check your energy bills to see if you can make savings and fix for the year ahead, but also to reduce carbon by signing up for a renewable electricity tariff.”

It’s not too late to sign up and see if you can save; nearly 5000 West Berkshire households have registered for the scheme, make sure you don’t miss out! To register or find out more, visit www.westberks.gov.uk/communityswitch

There is no obligation to switch. Auctions are held each year in February, May and October.

You will need to have your latest energy bill to hand, as you’ll need the details during the registration process. Registration and acceptance is open until Tuesday 30 June.
