With just one round of fixtures remaining, Week 12 of the West Somerset Bowls League delivered drama at both ends of the tables as the race for the Division One title tightened and the battle for survival took several decisive turns.

Division One: Williton A tighten their grip

Williton A took a giant stride towards the championship with a commanding 12–0 victory away at Taunton Deane A, a result that not only strengthened their position at the summit but sent a clear message to the chasing pack. Their consistency across all three rinks has been the hallmark of their season, and once again they proved too strong, too steady, and too clinical.

Their only remaining challenger is Bridgwater A, who kept the title race mathematically alive with an impressive 11–1 win at Wellington A. It was a spirited display full of determination, but with results elsewhere going against them, it may prove to be a case of too little, too late. Ilminster B secure a famous win

One of the standout results of the evening came at Ilminster, where Ilminster B stunned early‑season pace‑setters Burnham-on-Sea A with a superb 10–2 victory. It was a performance full of grit and ambition, and the reward is likely safety from relegation and a place in next season’s newly formed Division Two. For a side that has battled hard all year, this was a defining moment.

Division Two: North Petherton B keep the pressure on

In Division Two, the promotion race remains alive after North Petherton B defeated leaders Wellington B 10–2. It was a high‑quality encounter between the division’s top two sides, and the win keeps North Petherton B with a slim chance of the title. They will need results to fall their way in the final week, but their determination has ensured the race goes to the wire.

For Wellington B, the defeat carries little sting. Their season’s work has already guaranteed promotion to the new Division Two next year, and they remain favourites to go up as champions unless North Petherton B can conjure one last twist.
