As part of the Parish Council's plan to improve and upgrade facilities at Westminster field, work has started on creating an area adjacent to the car park which can be used as a temporary overflow parking area on busy days and to help prevent congestion in and around The Street.
Metal railing has been installed to create the new boundary. Grass reinforcement mesh will be laid down which has been specially designed to allow quick and maximum grass entanglement, giving structure and encouraging the mesh to become invisible as it disappears into the grass. The plastic mesh has also been designed with an oscillated structure providing enhanced anti-slip properties whilst retaining the necessary resistance to damaging traffic movements. We anticipate this will be laid down week beginning 19th April.
The grassy parking extension will not be open all the time - it will be monitored and unlocked when required.
Football Pitches
To meet FA standards, pitch 2 has been top-dressed and seeded. The plastic fencing around it is temporary to protect the area and give the grass the best chance to ‘take’.
Trees
The Parish Council was successful in applying for 30 saplings from the Woodland Trust which will be delivered by the end of April. Ten each of silver birch, Rowan and Wild Cherry will be planted around Westminster field and 100 year wood.
