WHAT A SUCCESS!

50+ visitors, great weather and plenty of fun — our Open Day was a huge success!

Saturday 29th August looked set to be a washout, with rain forecast for most of the day. But thankfully, the weather gods were smiling on us! Although it was cloudy, the rain held off and the visitors kept coming.

There was a fantastic buzz around the club, with a steady stream of prospective new members arriving throughout the morning. Our Meet and Greet team did a brilliant job welcoming everyone, while club members were on hand to direct visitors to the parking and make them feel at home.

And what a turnout from our own members! We had a tremendous number of volunteers, all keen to help wherever they could. That fantastic team effort really made the day.

More than 50 prospective new members came along and were given the chance to try their hand at bowls with a free coaching session. Afterwards, they were invited into the clubhouse for tea, biscuits and a chance to chat.

But we also wanted to show that we are more than just a bowls club!

When the green closes for winter, the fun certainly doesn't stop. Members can enjoy evenings of Dominoes, Canasta and Carpet Bowls, often rounded off with fish and chips. We also have monthly quiz nights and race nights to keep everyone entertained.

And it wasn't just the grown-ups having fun! Several youngsters came along and enjoyed trying short-mat bowls, along with putting, racket and ball games, colouring and Jenga.

There was something for everyone, plenty of smiles and, most importantly, lots of interest in what our club has to offer.

Over 50 visitors through the door, a fantastic team of volunteers and a great day had by all — we couldn't have asked for more!
