Dear Parishioner,

COLLINGHAM NEWS

You will find enclosed with this letter a packet of wildflower seeds named “Collingham Mix”.

The blend has been specially formulated by local Nottinghamshire company Naturescape specifically for us and is a gift from the Parish Council to every dwelling within the parish boundary.

Sowing these seeds will be a small step towards reducing our impact on the environment by producing colourful displays that will provide a suitable habitat for bees, pollinating insects and small mammals.

The Parish Council recognises the need to aid our faltering insect populations but it also understands that not everyone will want to sow them or indeed have a suitable space to grow them. If this applies to you then please pass any unwanted seed onto a neighbour or return the packet to the Parish Council via the post box on the outside wall of the Library.

We want to make sure that all the seed is used so please do not throw it away.

The Annual Parish Meeting held in April was well attended and it was lovely to see almost every group in the village represented to talk about their future plans.

There was a real buzz of excitement as it became apparent that after two years of covid related restrictions events are now happening in the village once again.

Keep an eye on notice boards and social media so that you don’t miss anything especially as this is Jubilee year and there is a lot going on.

Future plans for the Parish Council include continuing with our ‘green vision’ and developing a Neighbourhood Plan.

Some of you will have already seen the video about it but again keep an eye on the notice boards for more information and how you can get involved.

We have a small group of volunteer litter pickers and gardeners that tend the communal areas of the village, if you would like to join them please get in touch you will be made most welcome.

Please contact us by email info@collingham-pc.gov.uk or phone the Parish Clerk on 555700.

If you prefer to see someone face to face to talk about any aspect of village life then you will find the Parish Council gazebo in the village centre on Wednesdays from 9.30 – 11.30 am, from now until September.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Best Wishes
