Tonight at the neutral green of Fleet United, Oakley's women took on Alton Social in the Area Final of the Thornbery Trophy - the County Double Rink Club Championship. It was always going to be a tough ask against Social with their 4 Johns Trophy players but after 5 ends Oakley trailed by only 5 shots. By 10 ends Ruth Bown's rink had moved into a 2 shot lead but Kay Kerley was struggling so the deficit moved out to 8 shots. From there on Alton Social had the upper hand and, try as they did, Oakley were unable to make up the deficit eventually losing by 31 shots to 48. Still it was a good achievement to reach the Area Final. one stage better than the men managed.

Oakley Scores: Nicole Rogers, Sue Dixon, Janie Vickers and Ruth Bown lost 17-21, Camila Kingshott, Angie Rowe, Val Ryan and Kay Kerley lost 14-27
