Lenham Parish Council is pleased to confirm it now has funds released from Section 106 developer contributions to undertake the remaining remedial works to the mid-section of the footpath joining Ham Lane to the Maidstone Road.

The first stage of the works was paid for and undertaken by KCC a while ago and, recognising the remainder of the footpath was in need of attention, the parish council engaged with a variety of landowners either side of the footpath to agree the detail of the work to be done.

Agreement on what works were feasible, given that the adjacent landowners wished to retain the trees on their land, the parish council called for tenders so that it could make an application to Maidstone Borough Council, which holds Section 106 developer contributions on behalf of other bodies, for the work to be undertaken. That has now been agreed so the parish council will arrange for the remedial work to be done. During the works the footpath will need to be closed, the parish council will make sure that notices are placed on the footpath in good time.
