February 2020- Over the past few years council members have received comments and complaints on the ford willow tree covering the following -branches extending over private gardens, the main trunk of the willow tree leaning so far over the road it is restricting access for vans and emergency vehicles and it has been hit on numerous occasions, branches over the road are so low they have touched pedestrians and cars, the roots of the trees form matting in the bottom of the ford which restricts the flow of water in the beck.

As a result of the above the Council arranged a meeting with the Harrogate Council arborist back in November to look at all the trees along the beck. At this meeting he agreed that the willow tree adjacent to the ford had passed its prime and could be felled. The Council applied for planning permission for this to take place and this was approved.
