Waghorne Friday Triples

WAGHORNE'S TRIPLES 2024

Great to see so many taking part in our Friday night social triples competition, which this year begins on 17 May. We've completed the draw for teams and there will be 14 teams in this year’s competition, as listed below.

There will be two pools, both comprising 7 teams , who will play each other once (total of 6  matches). The Pools will normally play on alternate Fridays and a full timetable of games and fixture sheets will be available at the club. Pool fixtures and results will also be posted on this website (see Pool A or Pool B pages). If your team is in Pool A your first game will be on 17 May, while Pool B teams will play their first game on 24 May.

Dress for this competition is greys with white or club shirt. All games will start at 6.00 pm prompt and will consist of 14 ends, straight in, no trial ends. You should play in the listed order.

You will be expected to pay for all matches (£6) at your first game, rather than week by week, which will save time wasted in chasing fees, especially when a substitute is to play.

There are 2 points for a win, 1 for a draw. Ties for league position will be decided by shot difference. If still tied, the result between the 2 teams concerned will decide.

The top team in each Pool will play for the trophy on  Finals Days, either Saturday 07 or Sunday 08 September 2023.

Substitutes

If for any reason a team member is unavailable, you must use a player from the reserve list (see below) as a replacement. Only one substitute is permitted in a team and the substitute may only act as skip with the agreement of the opposing team. If no reserve is available, as a last resort a player from a team in the other pool may be used. You must NOT under any circumstances use a player from another team in your own pool as a substitute.

If more than one player in a team is unavailable, you must rearrange the match for an alternative date, acceptable to your opponents (for example, you could use one of the spare rinks when the other Pool is playing). If you do reschedule a game, you should inform Malcom Hodges or Andy Todd (competition organisers), so that they can amend the match schedule and give you the match scorecard.

The following have indicated that they are willing to step in as reserve if required:

Jan Bowd, Jim Bowd, David Hearle, Angie Langley, Nigel Kavanagh, Peter Weir.

Reserve Days

We will use the reserve day (30 August), if weather or other circumstances force the postponement of a whole round of matches. There will be no games on 12 July, when the club is due to play its first round in the County Challenge Cup.
