OUR CLUB, OUR CULTURE........

Dinas Powys Bowling Club is a welcoming, successful and long established club within Welsh Bowls and located in the heart of the pretty village of Dinas Powys in the Vale of Glamorgan, with tennis, rugby, cricket facilities all nearby.

Founded in 1906, Dinas Powys Bowling Club has a rich heritage and history as one of the leading clubs in Welsh Bowls. The club boasts one of the finest playing greens in Wales, excellent pavilion and facilities and has produced many players that have represented the club at county, international, European, commonwealth and world level.

The Men's section competes in the East Wales Private Greens League and regularly fields three competitive teams every week during the season. The club is also an affiliated member of the Welsh Bowling Association, the South Vale District Bowling Association, the Vale of Glamorgan County Bowling Association & the Welsh Women's Bowling Association. Our Ladies Section is thriving also, competing in the structured leagues of Glamorgan and the immediate area. 

We are home to the Open Singles Championship of Wales which has been played at the club since 1908 and is one of the longest running open tournaments in Welsh Bowls. The club has also hosted many international events including the Atlantic Games and multi-nation test matches as well as regularly hosting county games for the Vale of Glamorgan CBA.

Boasting a large private car park, an excellent playing surface, large club house and extensive bar facilities, Dinas Powys Bowling Club has a healthy membership of over 75 members and always welcomes new friends and members to the sport. We regularly hold taster sessions and coaching for new members and those wishing to try out bowls for the first time with discounted membership rates for the first season.

The pavilion and full bar facilities are available for private hire when not required for club members.

Dinas Powys Bowling Club is an inclusive, friendly and successful club that provides sporting and social activities for a wide cross-section of people from their teens to their 90’s. Our club provides support and friendship and actively encourages both people new to the sport as well as experienced bowlers.

We have reduced membership fees, free coaching and taster session throughout the year and a dedicated area on our website for new bowlers with tips, glossaries and explanatory pages all about the sport of Lawn Bowls

Our green is open from mid April to the end of September, and during this period we regularly play both home and away against other clubs. All levels of skill are catered for and several social events are also held each year to which other family members are welcome.

New members are always welcome, whatever experience or age, and free coaching is provided.  Join us to make new friends, enjoy exercise in the fresh air and get hooked on bowling!
