"The Shed Song", words and cords, written By Graham Gowman the Chairman of Nursling Men's Shed and performed by members of this Shed, and is to be included in the performance of a play about The MEN'S SHED at Titchfield Festival theatre

The Shed Song

(Traditional Tune)

Now when a man gets to an age and don’t know what to do

             C chord………………………………………………………….G

Get in the way or paint the house

                                   G……………………………………

Take the dog out for a poo

                                         G……………………….C

This ain’t no life, there’s more than this

                                C…………………………………………

To get us out of bed

                                              C………………..F

So shoulders back, deep breath in

                                   F…G……………………………………

and come down to the Shed

                                       G………………………..C….

   Shed Shed Shed  (chorus)

                                C……………………

Shed Shed Shed Shed

C……………………….

Well, in this place of wood and chat we like a cup of tea

a laugh a joke & reminisce it really works for me

We make some things and fix some more

Its good just like I said

So take the plunge

Go meet some chums,

they’re waiting at the Shed

Shed Shed Shed

Shed Shed Shed Shed

We have about a thousand of these truly joyful homes

Where men (and girls) can choose to go

and no one ever moans

There’s love and care aplenty there

It fairly turns your head

If you need help

or need a friend

Then come down to your Shed

Shed Shed Shed

Shed Shed Shed Shed

We make things out of pallets

and we make things out of steel

we fix old things and make some noise

depending how we feel

we garden and we mow the lawn

your soul is being fed

and do you know its almost free

You get this from a Shed

Shed Shed Shed Shed

Now Poor old George he passed away

It was a sad event

We sang some hymns, and said some prayers

and to the Crem he went

His missus said  what should I do

with his ashes now he’s d..e..a..d

We said,  we’ll make a box for him and keep him down the Shed

Shed Shed Shed

Shed Shed Shed Shed

Shed!
